Our Story
How did all this start?
We are continually being encouraged to look more closely at what we consume and the products we use - should it not also apply to our lotions and potions for our four-legged faithful friends?
One of the main reasons for the creation of WaggleAntics was the nagging question ‘Could we do something different, rather than always going for a chemical option?’
Just like humans, toxicity is becoming more and more of a problem for dogs. Food additives, preservatives and packaging can all provide a link to hidden nasties, from parabens to carcinogen qualities of sulphates. If in doubt, go and look at a bottle of shampoo or shower gel!
We have made the commitment to never use artificial colours, preservatives, animal products, sodium laureth sulphate/salfate or in fact any synthetic additives!
What's our secret?
Now that would be telling ... there have been many holistic recipes over the years but for us, it was finding a mix that was suitable for a variety of environments where dogs come in contact with ticks.
Having trialled it for seven years, we are confident that the blend works in defence of environments where sheep, deer, cows, horses and general wildlife reside.
The choice of oils and their source are also important, which is why WaggleAntics looks for organically certified routes, combined with distilled water and no sulphate alcohol.
A need for a container which would not contaminate the ingredients was of importance to us too. Fortunately, our bottles are specially lined, which eliminates the threat of toxicity or permeation of the WaggleAntics product. This, with our unique, funky design, has to be the icing on the cake.
The science behind our decision to go natural
Our canine friends respond really well to essential oils and when used safely, can be used for many different types of preventions. WaggleAntics’ aim is to continually research existing and future products, in order to provide you with more natural and chemical free alternatives.
Sodium laureth sulphate/sulfate (SLS) is a surfactant, detergent, and emulsifier used in thousands of cosmetic products, as well as in industrial cleaners. It is present in nearly all shampoos, scalp treatments, hair colour and bleaching agents, toothpastes, body washes and cleansers, make-up foundations, liquid hand soaps, laundry detergents, and bath oils/bath salts.
Although SLS originates from coconuts, the chemical is anything but natural. The real problem with SLES/SLS is that the manufacturing process (ethoxylation) results in SLES/SLS being contaminated with 1,4 dioxane, a carcinogenic by-product.
